Muddy Mother Christmas!

Bad Santa!
The 2013 Ashburnham Christmas Pudding dash couldn’t have been held on a worse day for weather. Bitterly cold & in driving rain, still they came: In their hundreds. Dressed as Santa’s, Snowmen, Elves & Reindeer, they came.
All things considered, Heathfield was well represented at this sold out annual 5 mile 2 lap scurry round the beautiful Ashburnham Place estate. Fiona ran her first race as a Heathfield Road Runner, and along with Gill managed to look glamorous as Mother Christmas throughout. Mick came across the line as 4th male home and Louise & Vicky… well they came across the finish line. Given that 10 minutes prior to the start they were both still in her car at ‘Ashburnham Place’ in Catsfield (cursing at the Sat Nav)….this was quite an accomplishment!). This wasn’t a race about results however, it was a race to enjoy and to celebrate another year great accomplishments: club, personal or otherwise.
Well done to all who ran (Mick, Cedric, Mike, Jude, Gill, Paul, Vicky, Louise & Fiona) and supported in such terrible conditions. A special mention to club ‘mascot’ Milby who despite wearing his new club jacket, almost froze at the finish line and had to be wrapped in Paul B’s discarded Santa outfit to keep warm. The club meal afterwards by the fire at the Ash Tree Inn more than made up for any hardships endured.
Happy New Year everyone!
