A group of Heathfield ladies have raised £700 for Cancer Research by taking part in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy, a 5k obstacle course held in the scenic (but very muddy) grounds of Mote Park in Maidstone on Saturday 11 July.
Many of the team of 22 are members of Heathfield Road Runners with the event was organised by our very own Michelle Spates.
The event was created as an exciting women-only event where they could let their hair down and have fun, all whilst raising funds for Cancer Research.
An incredible 8,000 women took part in the Pretty Muddy Maidstone event over the weekend of 11 and 12 July together hoping to raise £500,000 to help beat cancer sooner.
Well done ladies!
Every hour, more than five people are diagnosed with cancer in the South East but with research, survival rates have doubled since the 1970s – and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.
Today, more than 95% of men diagnosed with testicular cancer are cured, more women are surviving breast cancer and more children are surviving childhood cancers than ever before.
